The Timor-Leste National Police (Portuguese acronym PNTL) started the restructuring of the institution on the 9th of July, at its Headquarters. The restructuring is essentially based on the result of the recent officers’ stripes promotion.

The PNTL General-Commander, Longuinhos Monteiro, specified that “the officers that received a new post at the investiture, must serve, protect and implement law and order. That attitude will serve as a reference point of the institution within the scope of compromises rendered in favour of the people’s safety and law and order maintenance”.

Longuinhos Monteiro asked the Government to give more attention to this institution so that they develop the officers’ capacities.

The restructuring aims at placing the officers in their correct level, according to their stripe, under the scope of the Promotion of PNTL Law and the Career Regime. The investiture aims to revitalize and professionalize the elements of the Institution within national security.
