Timor-Leste participates in the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime

The Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Domingos Mariano Reis, is attending the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime, taking place in Labuan Bajo, in the province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Indonesia, from August 20th to 23rd, 2023. 368029593_135588776270209_8553638073599449824_n

The event aims to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of information between ASEAN member countries and dialogue partners to tackle transnational crimes. Topics such as terrorism, trafficking in persons, cybercrime, arms smuggling, illicit trade, drug trafficking, money laundering, international economic crimes and piracy will be discussed during the meeting.

kapolri-jenderal-listyo-sigit-prabowo-mengecek-gladi-bersih-pembukaan-kegiatan-internasional-asean-ministerial-meeting-on-tran-4_43The event will be attended by Timor-Leste, which is participating as an observer country, and the delegations from the ten ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Delegations from three ASEAN dialogue partner countries (China, the Republic of Korea and Japan) will also participate.

The national delegation will return to Timor-Leste on August 25th, 2023.
