Prime Minister discusses cooperation priorities with UN representatives
The United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Timor-Leste, Funmi Balogun, and the heads of the various UN agencies in the country met with Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and reiterated their commitment to support the priorities set by the 9th Constitutional Government in its Program. The meeting took place on August 14th, 2023, at the Government Palace in Dili.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister presented the Executive's priorities for the term of office and acknowledged the support that the UN and its agencies have provided to the Government and people of Timor-Leste in various areas.
During the meeting, the various ongoing programmes and new projects for the future aligned with the program outlined by the 9th Constitutional Government were discussed to ensure that support and efforts are focused on the areas most needed by the country and contribute to the sustainable development of Timor-Leste.
At the meeting with the Prime Minister, Funmi Balogan was accompanied by the UNICEF representative, Bilal Aurang Zeb Durrani; the UN Human Rights Office representative, Claudia Soares Gomez Diaz; the FAO representative for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Rajendra Aryal; the ILO representative for Timor-Leste and Indonesia (non-resident), Michiko Miyamoto; the IOM representative, Aishath Ihma Shareef; the UNDP representative, Adeline Carrier; the UNFPA representative, Pressia Arifin-Cabo; the UN Women representative, Amy Nishtha Satyam; the WFP representative, Cecilia Garzon, the WHO representative, Vinay Bothra; the UNESCO representative (non-resident), Maki Katsuno-Hayashikawa; and the UN Volunteer Program representative, Mário de Jesus Ximenes.
