Minister Agio and ADB Resident Director in Timor-Leste discuss bilateral cooperation
The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Agio Pereira, welcomed, on July 26th, 2023, at the Government Palace, a team from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The ADB team was led by Stefania Dina, ADB’s Resident Director in Timor-Leste.
In this first meeting, since the ADB Director in Timor-Leste took office and the 9th Constitutional Government was sworn in, the ADB team briefed the Minister on the ongoing projects in Timor-Leste and emphasised the Asian Development Bank's commitment to work closely with the Government.
Minister Agio presented the main priorities of the Programme of the 9th Constitutional Government, with particular emphasis on economic development, the petroleum sector, infrastructure, human resources training, decentralisation, and job creation through strengthening the national private sector and attracting foreign investment, as well as Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN.
The ADB official offered congratulations to the Minister on his recent appointment as Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. She also expressed ADB’s willingness to assist the Government in achieving its priorities, further enhancing bilateral relations throughout the 9th Constitutional Government’s term.
