Minister of Economy and Development meets with businessman in Sydney -Australia

The Minister of Economy and Development, João Mendes Gonçalves, representing the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, on the 17th of May, participated in the Council of Businessman meeting, in Sydney, Austrália.
The meeting‘s objective was the reinforcement of cooperation within the scope of civil servant capacity building from the Ministry of Economy and Development.
According to João Mendes Gonçalves a possibility exists to find development partners support for the civil servants to attend training courses in the short term (from the month of July until next January).
The Chief Executive from the Australian Institute of Management, David Wakeley, advanced that his Institute can provide these one-year training courses for periods of six months.
The Minister of Economy and Development also met with the Chief Executive and the Director of the New South Wales Food Industry Services to ask for support for specific training about the Food Industry.
In an interview to the Radio Timor-Oan 2000 of Australia, Minister João Gonçalves declared that there is an opening from foreign businessman and investors towards activities in Timor-Leste, since he was able to meet, during this visit, with Australian and Timorese businessman, potentially able to invest in Timor-Leste.
