The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Social Communication, Francisco Martins da Costa Pereira Jerónimo, signed a work agreement with the Director of the Dili Branch of the company PT. Global Citra Tama, Edy Hartono Salim, for the construction of three television transmission towers in three municipalities of the country. The agreement was signed on February 24th, 2023, in a ceremony held at the Government Palace in Dili. 013c067b-1145-4a2a-b57b-2a4e9aae1ab6

The transmission towers will be installed in the municipalities of Ainaro, Bobonaro and Lautém. They will be used by the public television company RTTL, aiming to increase access to information in these communities. This agreement calls for the towers to be built within six months, costing about USD$ one million. Construction is expected to begin next March.

Minister Francisco Jerónimo pointed out that “with the construction of these towers, the communities in these regions will no longer need a satellite dish to access RTTL and will be able to use a regular antenna.

The Director of the company responsible for the construction of the towers expressed his “satisfaction and gratitude to the Timorese Government, through the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Social Communication, for the trust placed in his company” and reaffirmed the commitment to “finish the work within the given deadlines”.

This ceremony was attended by the Ministry's directors and chiefs and by journalists.
