The Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, was received by the Lacló population with traditional dances and the offer of a mascar basket and a chip rock, in his 36th NSDP consultation, that took place on the 27th of May of 2010.

In the opinion of Sub-district Administrator, Filomeno Cabral, Lacló should occupy a place of distinction in the Government’s Plans, because of its potential in several areas: fishing, tourism, marble industry and forest exploration. Areas that can be developed for the benefit of the population’s well being.

The Uma-Caduak Chief of Suco, Manuel da Cunha, asked the Government to repair the irrigation canal, to allow the development of agricultural activities near the rice fields of his Manuho village, since at times of flooding, the canal is inundated and doesn’t allow for the rice fields’ cultivation.

Priest Aurio Reinaldo Soares, from the Lacló S. Vicente Ferrer Parish, asked the Government to take measures for the reparation of the Church building so that there may be a possibility of Lacló’s ascent in the Parochial Institution.

“If the communities hadn’t participated in the struggle for liberation, we wouldn’t have won independence ten years ago. This fact makes the Government obliged to continue with development in the short term”, defended Xanana Gusmão”.

The Lacló Sub-district is composed of 4 Sucos, 16 Villages, has 7,605 persons that speak the Galolen, Ilimanu and Mambae dialects.
