The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno, will participate in the 32nd Meeting of the Coordination Council of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and in the ASEAN Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, which will be held at the organisation's Secretariat, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The national delegation will be in Jakarta from February 1st to 10th.

This is the first meeting of the Indonesian presidency of ASEAN, and it is also Timor-Leste's first participation, as an observer, since the decision at the organisation's recent Summit, in November last year, to admit Timor-Leste, in principle, as the 11th Member State.

At these meetings, several agendas will be discussed, including the priorities of the Indonesian Presidency and the follow-up to the outcomes of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits in 2022.

These meetings will also aim to promote constructive dialogue between the parties and stronger ASEAN cooperation to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and to address various regional and global challenges, such as geopolitical issues and the continuing impact of Covid-19, as well as natural disasters and financial, energy and food crises.

Minister Adaljiza Magno will also hold bilateral meetings with ASEAN member countries on cooperation prospects during this period.

The Chief of Staff of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Director General for ASEAN Affairs and team, and the Director for South East Asian Affairs and Oceania are accompanying the Minister on this official visit.

After participating in the ASEAN meetings, in Jakarta, Minister Adaljiza Magno will accompany the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, on an official visit to Australia.
