Prime Minister presents the NSDP in the Sub-district of Ainaro

The Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, went to Ainaro where he was received by the Sub-District’s population, at Simbisa, Ainaro.

The Head of the Government was accompanied by the Secretary of State for Livestock, Valentino Varela, the Director-General for Budget, of the Ministry of Finance, Francisco Soares, the District Administrator of Ainaro, Manuel Pereira, the Vicar of Santa Maria Ainaro Parish and Priest Bento Soares Pereira.

Before the welcoming ceremony, the Prime Minister, at the request of the head guard of the sacred house, dressed in Ainaro’s traditional custom clothing and together with the Sub-District Administrator of Ainaro, presented himself to the audience that awaited him it the street.

Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão received a traditional cloth and was accompanied by applause and traditional dances. A welcoming sign by all: from the elders to the drum band ranks, through the Catholic High School of Ainaro.

Just before the main speaker said a few words, the Sub-District Administrator of Ainaro presented the geographical conditions of the District, as well as the results obtained due to the Referendum Package implementation, which, according to the councilor, and in spite of facing human resource limitations, has provided good quality results in the region.

During the explanation session on the National Development Strategic Plan (NDSP), the Prime Minister referred to its goals, which aim mainly to recover the people’s well being, and that he, as the Government leader, commits himself to submit the Plan to the National Parliament.

The main concerns set out by the population, after the session, were on basic infrastructures, such as roads, bridges, electricity, drinking water and sewerage, education and communication lines.
