Swearing-in of two new Secretaries of State

On March 31st, 2022, Maria do Rosário Fátima Correia and Eldino Rodrigues dos Santos were sworn in by the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, as Secretary of State for Equality and Inclusion and as Secretary of State for Land and Property, respectively. The ceremony took place at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace.

The Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, in his speech, welcomed “the start of functions of the Secretary of State for Equality and Inclusion and the Secretary of State for Land and Property, who, as of today, are part of the VIII Constitutional Government”, “that now assume new challenges with responsibility and dynamism, to guarantee equal opportunities for all citizens, the legal security of business and investments and the commitment to transform Timor-Leste into a Country that is increasingly Rich, Strong and Secure”.

“This ceremony completes the cycle of a governmental reshuffle that began on March 22nd, 2022, and which aims to take advantage of the more positive domestic and external environment, towards a post-COVID-19 New Normality, which we all wish could be one of increasing economic and social recovery, in all sectors of national development,” said Taur Matan Ruak.

“As the Government takes stock of the results achieved and prepares the revision of the National Strategic Development Plan, with the introduction of new multi-year planning and territorial planning instruments,” the Prime Minister took “the opportunity that this ceremony provides, to renew [the Government's] determination and commitment to a fairer and more inclusive society.”
