Vice Prime Minister visits CPLP headquarters

The Vice Prime Minister, José Maria dos Reis, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno, visited the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) Headquarters, in Lisbon, where they were received by the Executive Secretary of the CPLP, Francisco Ribeiro Telles, on July 8th 2021.

This visit is part of the preparation for the 13th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP to be held on July 17th, 2021, in Luanda, Angola, under the theme “Building and Strengthening a Common and Sustainable Future”. The date on which this summit takes places coincides with the day on which the CPLP marks its 25th anniversary.

During the Luanda Summit, Zacarias Albano da Costa, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste will succeed the Portuguese Francisco Ribeiro Telles as Executive Secretary of the CPLP. Cape Verde will officially end its mandate and the Republic of Angola will assume the rotating presidency of the CPLP

The meeting was also attended by the Timor-Leste’s Ambassador’s to Portugal, Isabel Amaral Guterres, and the Timor-Leste’s Permanent Representative to the CPLP, Marina Ribeiro Alkatiri.
