Second doses of Sinovac vaccine started being administered today
On July 12th, 2021, in a ceremony held at the CUAT (Chinese Merchants Union Association in Timor Leste) headquarters, in Hudi-Laran, Dili city, began the distribution of the second dose of the Sinovac vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
These vaccines are part of a batch of one hundred thousand doses that were offered by the People's Republic of China and that arrived in Timor-Leste on June 5th.
Sinovac has as a priority group young people from 18 years old, teachers and the Chinese community in Timor-Leste.
On the arrival of the vaccines into Timor-Leste, the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Xiao Jianguo, said that this vaccine "meets international safety, efficacy and manufacturing standards" and that "it was approved by the World Health Organization". The Diplomat also noted that "by the end of May, over 600 million doses of Sinovac had already been distributed in China and abroad, in countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, Pakistan, Hungary, Mexico, Thailand and Turkey".
