Last week, Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, accompanied by the Vice Minister of Economy and Desvelopment (Cristiano da Costa), by the PNTL Commander (Mateus Fernendes), by the Baucau Administrator in exercise (António Guterres), by the sub-district Administrator of Venilale and the Venilale parish Priest, organized a campaign on the Strategic Plan for National Development (SPND) in the sub-district of Venilale, Baucau district.
The Strategic Plan for National Development (SPND), comparable to a Political Manual, contains a message to politicians: “You can govern, as long as the People can benefit from better conditions”. Then the Prime-Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão asked the community, particularly in each sub-district, to choose their businessmen.
The Head of Government reminded the community of the 10.th Referendum Message of the past 30th of August : that violence must not happen again, underlining that the political parties should provide education to the People and cultivate mutual tolerance so as to not influence them, there must be criticism but aggression is not necessary.
There was also talk about the vision of Timor-Leste’s future in relation to the Referendum Package and the competence of the businessmenthat execute projects. If possible, it is important that businessmen come from the same suco so that the population can follow the projects.
“If there is any project in your suco, you should be the one monitoring the project. The businessman must ensure that the project is in good conditions because you are the ones who are going to benefit from it. Correct the businessman when things are not well. For the project to go well and within normality, the businessman should be from the beneficiary sub-district of the project” ensured the Xanana.
