More than 87,000 people across the country have already received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19

Almost two months since the vaccination campaign began on April 7th 2021, the Ministry of Health has administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to 87,230 people.

Most of the vaccines were distributed in Dili, the municipality most affected by the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, with 74,659 doses administered, which corresponds to 35% of the population over 18 years old in the capital.

In Dili, 97% of people aged 18-59 with comorbidities have already received the first dose of vaccine and 19% of people over 60 have already received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Health authorities continue to appeal to the entire population, especially people over 60, to get vaccinated.

The latest figures, recorded yesterday, June 3rd 2021, indicate that Timor-Leste has a cumulative total of 7422 SARS-CoV-2 infected persons and 16 people have died from the virus since the pandemic began.

Worldwide, more than 171 million people have been reported infected and more than 3.6 million people have died from COVID-19.
