Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers meets with the Head of IFC in Timor-Leste
The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, met with the Head of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) in Timor-Leste, Soneath Hor, on March 5th, 2021, at the Government Palace, in Dili.
During the meeting, the Minister and the Head of IFC discussed possible joint cooperation projects and ongoing projects, such as the construction of the Tibar Bay Port and the rehabilitation project of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, which are supported by IFC in the creation of public-private partnerships.
The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers highlighted the recent approval by the National Parliament of a set of legislative proposals of the Government, such as the legal regime of voluntary arbitration, the recognition of foreign arbitral awards and the amendment to the Civil Procedure Code, which aim to contribute to the improvement of the business environment by allowing a faster resolution of conflicts , fostering the confidence of external partners and mitigating possible barriers to their investment in the country.
In the scope of the Public Administration Reform Program, Fidelis Magalhães defined as short-term priorities the improvement and simplification of business licensing processes and of the evaluation of investment proposals and the development of the unique identifier( Unique ID) and the e-Government.
