Minister of Finance has high hopes in the Dili Declaration

In a very optimistic speech, during the Dili International Dialogue, Emilia Pires highlighted the work done by the Government since 2007, in the economic perspective and stabilization of the political situation and security in the country.
The Minister of Finance reiterated that the country "is now celebrating its twenty-fifth month without conflict” and pledged that "Timor-Leste has entered enthusiastically into a new phase of Development", urging countries and delegations present at the meetings to “continue to walk along side with Timor-Leste in a moment when the country is about to take off”.
Emília Pires also argued that the motto "Goodbye Conflict; Welcome Development” shouldn’t just be “in banners”, but should mean a practical compromise made by the group of “fragile states”.
The similarities between the difficulties and challenges shared in recent days, prompted the Minister of Finance to conclude that “there are many more points that unite us than those that divide us", expressing pride in the success of the meetings held so far.
Emília Pires believes that these meetings can result in an agreement that can place the countries on the route of development in the name “of a people that deserve it” and believes the experience lived by Timor-Leste in recent years may contribute decisively to the "Dili Declaration" document which, in turn, may benefit the “g7+”.
