Meeting to coordinate the implementation of Government projects and programs
A coordination meeting on the implementation of the projects and programs of the current Government, chaired by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães and with the participation of the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Media, Francisco Martins da Costa Pereira Jerónimo, the Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo, the Minister of Public Works, Salvador Soares dos Reis Pires and the Minister of Transport and Communications, José Agustinho da Silva was held on June 9, 2020.
During the meeting, the members of the Government examined the state of play of the various projects and the needs for coordination at ministerial level and agreements with development partners.
Among the various projects analyzed was the rehabilitation project of the Lahane Military Hospital, with support for its construction to be considered at the meeting of the Council of Ministers tomorrow, June 10.
The meeting also considered the various ongoing initiatives in the transport and communications sector, such as the action plan for civil aviation, the rehabilitation project of Nicolau Lobato International Airport – which includes the extension of the runway and modernization of the facilities, the Baucau airport development project as well as the options for connecting fiber optic cable, which will allow for a decrease in costs and a large increase in internet access.
Other projects analyzed and already in the process of implementation or completion include the new passenger terminal of Dili Port, inaugurated this year, the construction project of the Tibar Bay Port that is underway and the construction of the second passenger boat (Nakroma II), which is being built in China, by the Dutch group Damen Shipyards.
