TLDPM Press Conference
Emília Pires, the Minister of Finance, held a press conference at the end of the TLDPM with the main conclusions of the meeting, along with UN SRSG, Ameerah Haq, the World Bank Country Director, Ferid Belhaj and the ADB President Laurence Greenwood.
In the opening statement, the Minister of Finance said the Government is “very encouraged by the positive remarks of the development partners” and made reference to the 287,9 million USD disbursed in donor assistance in 2009 in Timor-Leste.
Emília Pires also expressed the Government’s strong desire to strenghten the cooperation with the development partners on the Strategic Development Plan that will provide a long term vision for 2030, a framework to 2020 and a costed plan to 2015: “ we now feel renergized and committed to continue to work hard toward a better future”, the Minister concluded.
UN SRSG, Ameerah Haq, answering on the question about the aplication of the funds, said that many projects are being developed and that she holds high expectations regarding the Government‘s Strategic Development Plan.
