Government of Timor-Leste

Since 2013 that the non-governmental organization Timor Aid, in association with the Office of the Prime Minister, through the Unit for Support to Civil Society, has been conducting a survey of cultural data in the region of Covalima. Given the importance of this zone to oil and gas exploration, some local communities had to be resettled due to the construction of roads and facilities for the oil industry.

Last July, the Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araújo, went to this region for the opening of the exhibition "Hatene ami nia moris - Learn about our world", where the research results were handed over to the community and the Timorese Government, in Books, Maps, CD (Audio) and DVD (image).

In the video below, the Head of Government reminds us that “if culture ceases to exist, there is no longer a political identity”. Produced by SECOMS - Secretary of State for Social Communication, the video also shows all the beauty of the craft and music from Suai-Camenaça, with dancing and “tais” weaving (weaving typical of Timor-Leste) scenes.
