Training in arson
Last November 27th, was held in Dili the awarding ceremony of participation certificates in the specialized training action on arson investigation.
This training lasted for three weeks and had participation of inspectors and experts from the Scientific Police for Criminal Investigation, being ensured by a team comprised by two Chief Inspectors, specialized in this area, both from the Portuguese Criminal Police.
This action is included in the training programme for 2015-2016, that provides technical training and knowledge development in the areas of criminal investigation, scientific police and laboratory analyses, in Timor-Leste, through almost ten specialty courses.
These activities are framed by the Justice Component of the Timor-Leste Support Programme to Democratic Governance, a cooperation delegated by the European Union on Portugal, Camões, PI.
The programme monitors, since 2012, the establishment of a highly specialized criminal police body, in an essential area for the development of the country, by acting in partnership with the Ministry of Justice from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and other local entities.
Established in 2014, the Scientific Police for Criminal Investigation has more than 47 investigators and 31 experts. Their training has been carried out in Timor-Leste and in Portugal, at the Criminal Police School.
