Prime Minister inaugurates Health Recovery Institution
The Prime Minister, Dr. Rui Maria de Araújo, accompanied by the Minister of State, Coordinator for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, Fernando La-Sama de Araújo, inaugurated, on April 24th, the Health Recovery Institution, at Tíbar, in the Municipality of Liquiçá.
The Head of Government felt “quite honoured for checking as concluded the work at the Health Recovery Institution and for being present at its inauguration. I want to thank to the State Secretariat for Employment Policy and Vocational Training and to the National Employment and Vocational Training Centre from Tíbar, by empowering people for the construction of this back-office support centre for AIDS patients.”
At the beginning of the mandate by the Sixth Constitutional Government, it was declared the wish to unite the Timorese – civil society, Government and entrepreneurs – in order to focus their sympathy towards people affected by HIV-AIDS.
“At a later stage, when the Centre is fully operational, we are going to joint efforts in support to affected people and on the fight against this disease”, advanced Rui de Araújo.
This place has a solidarity nature towards the fellow countrymen affected by the disease, and given its importance, the Government will commit itself in helping this institution.
The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, who was also Minister of Health for the First Constitutional Government, added further that “prevention is not of exclusive competence for the National Committee for Combating AIDS, it is also up to us to take this responsibility. Therefore, is it urgent to educate people for risky behaviours related to HIV-AIDS”.
The Minister of State, Coordinator for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, Fernando La Sama de Araújo, acting as President for the National Committee for Combatting AIDS, highlighted that, through the inauguration of this Centre, the State of Timor-Leste shows a very serious commitment towards combating this disease.
The construction of the Health Recovery House, in Tíbar, counted on with the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s contributions, for an amount of 150.000,00 American Dollars.
