The Minister of Justice, Ivo Valente, has asked the directors from the Ministry to show commitment in their functions, by working harder, in order to improve their work provision, because the people holds great expectation and demands for improvements on the justice sector.

This was the message conveyed by his speech at the swearing-in ceremony, for servants holding management and leadership positions, held at the Legal Training Centre, in Caicoli, Dili, on February 19th. The investiture was given by the President of the Civil Service Commission, Libório Pereira.

The sworn-in were Henrique de Oliveira, as General Director; Lucas António da Costa, as General Inspector; António Fátima de Jesus, as General Subinspector; Crisogno da Costa Neto, as National Director for Administration and Finance and Celito Cardoso, as National Director for Human Rights and Citizenship.

“It is an honor for me to witness this ceremony. As a political leader, I recall the newly inducted that this official act enacts your responsibility. I ask you to play your role in order to improve delivery within the Ministry of Justice”, outlined the Minister of Justice.

The people hold a great expectation and a great demand towards the Justice sector, which includes Courts, General Prosecutor’s Office and Public Defender’s Office. “During the next five years, we will face many challenges and will receive criticism. However, I am sure that you have the technical ability, appropriate competence and maturity to face any situation", added Ivo Valente.

On the same occasion, Libório Pereira recalled that the appointment and promotion of civil servants is governed by the rules of the Civil Service. The process of appointment and promotion in the Administration is very dynamic.

"Replacement is a normal process that happens in Public Administration. Enjoy the opportunity to exercise your role with professionalism. This promotion gives you power, authority, autonomy and working conditions to achieve the goals of the Ministry of Justice included in the Organic Law of the VI Constitutional Government" said the President of the Civil Service Commission.
