The Minister of State Administration, Jorge da Conceição Teme, has paid a visit to the National Archive, on January 15th, to hold a meeting with heads of department and staff from that service.

Jorge da Conceição Teme asked the staff from the National Archive to work with creativity and initiative, to improve service quality and demonstrate some sense of responsibility towards State assets.

“You have to be be creative, by organizing activities developed and promoted through National Archive, such as musical performances or contests for younger generations, for them to know the History of Timor-Leste. I also ask directors to listen to everybody’s ideas, because they are public servants serving the people and the nation, not serving a certain individual or group”, added the Minister.

The General Director for National Archive, Horácio dos Santos Marques, presented some proposals, namely related to the rehabilitation of the wall surrounding the National Archive building and the settlement of their services across all districts. Then, he raised questions related to the transportation and training of the staff, including those holding management and leadership positions.

One of the initiatives taken by the Minister of State Administration was the signature of agreements with Indonesia and Malaysia, towards the production of an historical movie about Oe-Cusse Ambeno.

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy General Director, Hermes da Rosa Correia Barros, the heads of department, staff and trainees from higher education institutions, such as National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL), Peace University (UNPAZ), Oriental University (UNITAL) and the Institute of Business (IOB).
