MoSS will build Jardim dos Heróis (Gardens of the Heroes) in Viqueque and Baucau
The Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS) will build two more Jardim dos Heróis (Gardens of the Heroes) Martyrs of the Nation, one in Quelicai (Lubawai), in the district of Baucau, and another in Uatolari (Suco of Matahoi), in the district of Viqueque, using a budget of 500.000 American dollars.
To conduct these constructions, the MoSS signed an agreement with the companies Twin Dragon and Bebui Unipessoal Lda, at the building of Caicoli, Díli, on Friday, August 8th.
After the signature, the Minister for Social Solidarity, Isabel Amaral Guterres, informed that the budget allocated for both projects comes from the exercise of the fiscal year of 2014. “The companies predict to complete the works on November 8th, 2014. In the future the remains of the martyrs who gave their life for this country will be gathered there”, highlighted the Minister.
Meanwhile, the Vice Minister for Social Solidarity, Jacinto Rigoberto Gomes de Deus, explained that the Ministry has decided to support the purchase of construction materials for the houses of ten families who were affected by the construction of Jardim dos Heróis (Gardens of the Heroes) in Quelicai. According to the Vice Minister, these families were entitled to this state support. The team from the Ministry conducted an inspection to the houses of those ten families, having concluded that they are not of permanent construction. Ministerial support will be provided through a support pack for catastrophic situations. “We ask the families to build the new homes in safe places”, added the Vice Minister.
The project coordinator, Lourenço José Cabral, referred that, “at the moment, 418 remains were collected, from which 280 were already identified and foreseen to be buried on September 2014. Either way, every corpse will be delivered to the Government until next November”, he stated.
Present at the ceremony of signature of this agreement were the Secretary of State for the Combatants for National Liberation Affairs, Júlio Sarmento da Costa (Meta Mali), the General Director of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Eugénio João A.M. Soares, the Chief of Staff of the Minister, José da Conceição, directors and other staff.
