Swearing-in of the Council for the Community Radio of Mauloko-Maubisse

The Secretary of State for Media, Nélio Isaac Sarmento, inaugurated on June 7th 2014, the building for the Community Radio of Mauloko-Maubisse and took part in the swearing-in ceremony of the ten elected members of the Radio Council, at the Parish Hall of the subdistrict of Maubisse, district of Ainaro.
Nélio Isaac Sarmento reffered that this is a very important process to the country, in particularly to the community of Maubisse.
The Head of Media issues also said that community radio will change the way of thinking of the population, for it allows to inform on the goals expected to be achieved.
“The journalists of the community radio shall inform the community on important and real issues, for the community to be aware of what is happening in Maubisse”, considered the Secretary of State.
The assistant for the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL), Assistant Superintendent Albino Mouzinho, motivated the whole structure of the radio to inform on the events of Maubisse, district of Ainaro, in order to raise trust on the disseminated information.
“The Radio is a very important means to raise awareness and motivation on communities, because they need information from the Government and its institutions and they also need to understand the purpose of the State. We need to be informed and ensure the concretion of this plan in our district”, defended the PNTL Assistant, Albino Mouzinho.
The President of the Council for the Community Radio of Mauloko-Maubisse, Martinho Sequeira, informed that the role of the Radio Council is to supervise the activities of the radio and the council, under the guidance of its president, elected by the community.
“It is our expectation that, from this swearing in, we may be able to attract some sponsorship in order to develop the Community Radio of Mauloko-Maubisse”, referred the President of the Council for the Community Radio.
The State Secretariat for Media provides technical support to 14 community radios. This State Secretariat already inaugurated, the buildings of the community radios of Aileu, Ermera, Lautém, Baucau and Ainaro, where it were also sworn-in the elected members of the Radio Councils and managers, and it's foreseen the continuation of this project on other districts.
