MoSS receives a delegation from the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction of Nepal

The Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS), represented by the Vice Minister Jacinto Rigoberto Gomes de Deus, received the visit of a delegation from the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction of Nepal, on May 27th, to analyse questions related with conflict prevention. The Nepalese delegation of the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction was made up by the Secretary Dhana Bahadur Taman, by the Deputy Secretary Laxmi Sharan Ghimire and by the Under-Secretary Kashi Nath Marasini.
This visit took place following a visit made by the Timorese Minister for Social Solidarity to Nepal, specifically to the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction of that country, with the aim of reinforcing cooperation ties and the share of experiences on how to face conflicts.
Jacinto Rigoberto Gomes de Deus explained that “the delegation of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction of Nepal revealed to have been following the capacity of Timor-Leste to solve their own problems, of achieving solutions. They told us that the experience of Timor-Leste was a reference to them, and with this visit to our ministry they wanted to learn more about our experience. "
The Vice Minister stated that they discussed solutions taken for internally displaced people and the method of ensuring stability within the territory, particularly the protection and care of the helpless as a way to reduce conflict. The delegation will travel to the districts to meet with communities and verify the implementation of projects. They want to understand the awareness and community participation in peace-building within our territory. This is their goal. "
Attending the meeting with the delegation of Nepal were: the Director Amândio Amaral Freitas, the Director Antónia Carmen da Cruz, the representative of UNDP-Nepal, the Head of Department Agostinho Cosme Belo, the UNDP program analyst, Justino da Costa, chiefs of staff from the MoSS, national and international advisors.
