MoFAC receives the visit of the ACP Secretary General

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Luís Guterres, met on May 19th with the Secretary General for the African, Caribbean and Pacific group of countries (ACP), the Ghanaian Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni. In his first visit to Timor-Leste, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni also had also a meeting with the directors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC).

“I came to Timor-Leste at a moment of festivities. Yesterday, I went to the inauguration of the statue of the father of the Nation (Nicolau Lobato) and I was really impressed,” stated the Secretary General for ACP. “Timor-Leste has been made noted all over the world. The support provided to Guinea Bissau is a good example, for this country has faced many problems for several years. Timor-Leste helped the Guineans to come out of the instability situation and this attitude is commendable”, he added.

José Luís Guterres also thanked the visit of the Secretary General for ACP and remembered the support provided by the African countries in the struggle for Independence of Timor-Leste, “being in debt with Africa”.

During his visit to Timor-Leste, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni has also scheduled meetings with the Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmão, with the Secretary General for FRETILIN, Mari Alkatiri and with the President of the National Parliament, Vicente Guterres.
