Government launches campaign on the use of equipment of safety and health at work

The Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment Policy, Ilídio Ximenes da Costa, along with the Vice-Minister of Justice, Ivo Valente, launched on April 30, a campaign on the use of equipment of health and safety in the workplace. The venue for the launch of this campaign was the fuel supply centre Tiger Fuel in Dili.
The campaign is launched as part of the celebration of Labour Day, based on the Labour Law, which regulates safety, hygiene and health at work in Section IV.
The Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment Policy (SoSPTEP) placed posters around Dili showing some of the equipment that can be used. This is a way to appeal to their use, both by workers and by employers, and it will also be disclosed in the districts.
In the words of Vice-Minister of Justice, "Today is an important day that marks the implementation phase of the regulations in the Labour Law. This means that the Government ensures greater attention to workers, not only for their profession but also for the contribution of their work to the development of the country. "
Ilídio Ximenes da Costa explained that "the law already exists, we need to socialize it. The law has important rules that are to be met both by workers and employers. The workers are the key to development and should have a decent treatment. "
The Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment Policy noted, too, that "the launch of this campaign applies to all districts and is intended to alert the community to the fact that it is essential to safeguard life," while it appealed to employers to treat workers with dignity.
