Council of Ministers meeting of September 7, 2011
This Wednesday, September 7, 2011 the Council of Ministers met at the Council of Ministers’ meeting room in the Government Palace, Díli, and approved:
1. Decree-Law that approves the Curricular Plan for the General Secondary Education System and its Implementation Regime
The Ministry of Education saw approved the Decree-Law that establishes the National Curriculum for the General Secondary Education and at the same time determines the rules for its implementation. With the approval of the Diploma, the IV Constitutional Government achieves the important goal of having a National Curriculum for all primary and secondary education, promoting the development of a quality education system, as well as the consolidation of a national identity.
2. Government Resolution Regarding the Protection of Cultural Heritage
The Council of Ministers adopted a Government Resolution which provides legal protection to cultural heritage. This resolution defines a set of mechanisms through which recognize that the Secretary of State for Culture and the services under its direction, in the Ministry of Education, have the responsibility for its management to ensure the essential legal framework for inventory management, protection and enhancement of the country’s cultural heritage.
The Council of Ministers also analyzed:
1. Ambassador of Israel resident in Singapore’s address to the Council of Ministers
Amira Arnon, the Israeli Embassador resident in Singapore, in a brief statement to the Council of Ministers, spoke of the various steps that have been traversed in the struggle for independence, to recognize Israel and Palestine as two independent States. Amira Arnon took the opportunity to somehow draw a parallel between the struggle of Israel and Timor-Leste for the same cause, independence.
2. Decree-Law that approves the Training and Human Resources Development for the Civil Service
The Council of Ministers once again looked into the rights, responsibilities, activities and possible training of public servants stressing the importance of working together, and coordinated with the responsible institutions. The Civil Service Commission will have the opportunity to return to discuss this Decree-Law at a forthcoming meeting of the Council of Ministers.
