Tutuala – Lospalos, the district of Lautém

Yesterday, in the town of Tutuala, Prime-Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão continued with his consultation with the people on his National Strategic Development Plan. Parallel to the planned activities and aiming at enhancing local agriculture production, Prime Minister Gusmão witnessed the hand-over of new tractors to local farmers by the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Mariano Assanami Sabino.

Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão checked the construction projects pertaining to Pacote Referendo (PR) and warned local builders to observe at all times the need for quality delivery and that ‘the people must come first and foremost, not money’ So, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão reiterated that as an equally important point, one must ensure quality and enhance the capacity of the people as well as that of the prestige of local building companies, taking this as equally important.

On the projects with impact n the youth but quality remains a challenge, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão stressed that the future of the Nation depends on the quality of the Timorese youth. That’s why those projects aiming at youth development need to ensure quality.

Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão also stressed the need to enhance the capacity of the local farmers as a mean to increase yield of local products so that the farmers can sell and obtain cash and fund the education their children. In this way, the knowledgeable youth can take responsibility for the future of the Nation. Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão added that skills and quality education are a priority.

As one of the important development steps, Prime Minister Gusmão reaffirmed the need for local construction companies to deliver all the construction projects with the expected quality because this increases the quality of living of local communities, as well as enhance the prestige of local construction companies.

From Tutuala, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão travelled to Iliomar (21.04.10), to continue his consultation program, form there to Lautém sub-district and will conclude the district of Lautém on Friday and Saturday, with a meeting in Luro (23-24 April).
