Prime Minister to hand over the ratification of the agreement signed with the Holy See
The Prime Minister is travelling to the Holy See, in Rome, Italy, next Tuesday, March 1st, 2016, to hand over the document which ratifies the agreement signed in Dili, in August 2015, with the Vatican’s Secretary of State and special envoy of Pope Francis to Timor-Leste, Cardinal Pietro Parolin,.
The August agreement was subsequently ratified by National Parliament on October 26th, 2015 and will be handed over personally by the Prime Minister to Pope Francis on March 3rd. This legal document establishes the relationships of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste with the Holy See and the Catholic Church.
The Vice President of National Parliament, Adérito Hugo da Costa, and the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Roberto Soares will be accompany the Prime Minister on this important trip to the Vatican.
