The President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, inaugurated, on November 27th and for the first time, five houses for the underprivileged, in the village of Bularema, Seloi Malere suco, subdistrict from the municipality of Aileu.

Taur Matan Ruak was pleased that the house delivering program to the underprivileged was inaugurated, being these five houses built by the State Secretariat for Professional Training and Employment Policy (SSPTEP).

The President of the Republic referred that the State of Timor-Leste has an obligation to use three processes in building the nation: to provide basic services to the population, to ensure ways of social welfare to every citizen and to create opportunities to those that want to improve their lives and get involved in national development.

“The effort in building houses is included on one of the most important roles of the State, the one of providing basic services and social welfare to populations”, he referred.

In the next few years, the State of Timor-Leste will make an effort to offer to the underprivileged population new and better models of housing, within the nation.

“The houses built are economic and comfortable. Those who are going to live in there must feel it their house. You need to live in safety for the future”, referred the President of the Republic.

Ilídio Ximenes da Costa explained that "SSPTEP makes an effort to use the potential of each municipality, by building with local bricks. Thus, we aim to reduce dependency on the materials purchased to the stores. With dreams and inspiration, we will try to build and leave work done. Although they are simple houses, we will look for ways to build them to the underprivileged" he said.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Aileu Administrator, Martin Matos, has asked residents to take good care of the houses and community leaders to continue in supporting them.

One of people who benefit from this program, Joana Mendonça, 45 years old, expressed her pride and surprise for having received a house from the Government: "These five houses are great for us, the underprivileged. We thank, with our hands wide open, for these houses and we promise to take care of them. We ask that more will be built next year for our fellow widows."Casas_Aileu
