Timor-Leste and Argentina initiate a technical cooperation agreement

Within the framework agreement on Technical Cooperation signed last September between the Argentine Republic and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the ‘First Mission Meeting’ on cooperation between the two nations took place on November 13, 2013 in the VIP room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in Dili.

The meeting was chaired by the Director General of External Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, João Câmara, and Lucila Rosso, Director General of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina led the Argentinean delegation.

During the meeting, the two delegations stressed the importance of South-South Technical Cooperation since it allows the formulation of more effective strategies that ensure the consolidation of relations between the two countries.

The South-South Technical Cooperation is to be implemented for the period 2014-2016, with training programmes in areas such as Public Administration and Public Servants; Public Records Office; Forensic Medicine and Toxicology; Protocol and Ceremonial; National Parks Management; Park Rangers; Fisheries Protection and Management and Aquaculture Development.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of State Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Tourism, the Secretary State of Culture, the National Police of Timor-Leste and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
