Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation receives Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Luís Guterres, received the official visit of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Minoru Kiuchi, together with his delegation, on 22 April, 2013 at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Dili.

Vice Minister Minoru Kiuchi came to Timor-Leste to observe the situation of the country with the objective of analyzing the existing cooperation between the two countries as well as the continuity of the support being extended by Japan to the Timorese Government.

After the meeting, José Luís Guterres explained that “this is the first visit of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan to Timor-Leste. Minoru Kiuchi highly appreciated the process of development of our country and confessed his expectation that our development process may be better and faster than that of other countries”.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation added that “we are creating confidence before the international community members so that they may invest in our country. To that end, it is important for Timor-Leste to live in stability and democracy, thereby valuing dialogue and using peaceful means to settle its differences.”
