NLCE from Portugal provides training to workers from the MoPW in the area of Laboratory

Twenty two officials in the area of laboratory technique from the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) and three officials form ILO (International Labour Organization) took part in a training action in the area of laboratory, during 10 days (from January 13th until January 24th) at the National Directorate for Research and Development (NDRD), in Colmera, Dili. The activity has trainers from the NLCE (National Laboratory of Civil Engineering) from Portugal.

The National Director for Research and Development, Saturnino Gomes B. Caldas, informed that the 25 trainees are laboratory technicians, being four of them technicians from the National Directorate of Roads, Bridges and Flood Control, two from the National Directorate for Building, 16 from the National Directorate for Research and Development, and three are officials of the ILO. “I feel grateful for the NLCE having had the initiative of increasing the officials’ knowledge in the area of laboratory. We hope for it to have a positive result despite the difficulties regarding the language”, said Saturnino Caldas. To help overcome these difficulties, the Ministry of Public Works secured the existence of a translator during all training

The representative of the Ambassador of Portugal, Luís Cunha, said that he hoped that this training session might strengthen the relationship between both countries. “I hope it benefits both parts, trainees and trainers”, added Luis Cunha.

The training program is sponsored LNEC, and has the support of Four Road Development (R4D) and ILO.
