“The State and the Timorese people thank China for the support that has been provided, to encourage the development of this young country. We hope that the friendship relation between these two countries, will continue with greater firmness”, were the words of the Vice Prime Minister, Fernando La Sama de Araújo, during a meeting with his counterpart, the Vice Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yang, in Macau, on November 4th.
Fernando La Sama de Araújo, besides leading the Timorese delegation, also took part in the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation, between the Portuguese Speaking Countries and China, held in Macau during the 5th and 6th of November.
During the Forum, the Government of Timor-Leste and China signed a cooperation agreement in some areas, such as tourism and the media.
In 2014, the Government of China is also expecting to provide 80 million RMB in aid to the Government of Timor-Leste, to develop the agriculture and tourism sectors.
The Vice Prime Minister Wang Yang praised the development that has occurred in Timor Leste, including the success of the democratic process, which has been achieved through the presidential and parliamentary elections.
