SoSPE organizes FIAR fair in order to promote local products

The Secretariat of State for the Promotion of Equality (SoSPE) promoted local products through the launching of FIAR Fair (Feto Iha Auto-impregu Rasik, in English, Woman has self-employment), which took place at Dili Conventions Centre, from November 5th to November 8th.

The Fair aimed the celebration of the National Day of Timorese Woman, under the theme “Say no to domestic violence, together we work towards national development”.

Idelta Maria Rodrigues, Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality, remembered that under the 4th Constitutional Government’s mandate, the Secretariat of State for the Promotion of Equality in cooperation with the Secretariat of State for Professional Training and Employment Policy and the Secretariat of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector, started the program FIAR fair, aiming to promote the products produced by women.

“These activities show us we can’t forget that women are not only dedicated to domestic work, but also doing an effort in order to contribute, with other types of work, to increasing family’s economic income. The involvement of women to improve familiar economy is a way of preventing domestic violence”, reinforced Idelta Maria Rodrigues.

Apart from the Fair, the celebration of this year’s National Day of Timorese Woman, counted also with a music concert by timorese artists such as Dejukdil, Galaxy, Inferno, 5 de Oriente, T-69, Cidália, Ofélia, and KOTAC Group from Indonesia.

At the opening of the Fair were present the Vice-Minister of Social Solidarity, Jacinto Rigoberto de Deus, national NGO’s, Feto Network and 60 groups of women, from the 13 districts.
