On October 23rd and 25th respectively, the Ministry of Justice, more specifically the National Directorate for Land, Property and Cadastral Services (NDLPCS), met with the local authorities of the sub districts of Vemasse and Baucau Vila, for a preliminary discussion about the highway project, to be built in 2014. The same meeting also took place in the district of Liquiçá. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) sponsored all these meetings.
The Director of the NDLPCS, Romão Guterres, asked the local authorities to identify the private properties, which at the outset, will be part of the project.
“If sections of the highway pass through private land, these may have to be transferred to the State, with compensation, since they are to be used for the purpose of development,” said Romão Guterres.
A technical team will be making the data survey of the properties which lie along the areas that will be affected by the project.
The Asian Development Bank consultant suggested that the community leaders and their communities contribute with ideas for establishing the regulations.
