Timor-Leste took part in the 18th International Fair of Macau, which occurred in Macau, from October 17th to October 20th. Promoting exchange and economic cooperation between Macau, China and the Portuguese Speaking Countries, was the aim of the event.
The Secretary of State for Support and Promotion of the Private Sector (SoSSPPS), Veneranda Lemos, headed the delegation composed by the Member of Parliament Ângela Corvelo, the Ambassador for Timor-Leste in Peking, Vicky Tchong, the Head of Staff, the Senior Advisor for the Cabinet and Focal Point of Forum Macau, Tony Duarte, and by staff from Trade Invest and from the Bamboo Centre of Timor-Leste.
During the Fair, Veneranda Lemos and her entourage, visited the Secretary of Economy and Finance of the Special Administrative Region of Macau, Tam Pak Yuen.
To the delegation and the participants of the 2013’s Forum for International Trade and Investment, which took place during the event, the head of the Timorese Delegation mentioned the achievements made by Timor-Leste. She also spoke about the competitiveness in the Private Sector, regarding telecommunications operated by three competitors, which cover the whole territory of Timor-Leste. She also made a presentation on One-Stop-Shop, SERVE, which allows registration of new companies, licenses’ renewal, the review of the Law on Private Investment and the launching, in the near future, of the Investment Portal of Timor-Leste.
