Ministry of Justice launches Integrated Information Management System

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ), in collaboration with the international partner AUSAID, through the Justice Facility, launched, last October 2nd, at Hotel Timor, in Dili, the Integrated Information Management System. This system will help Justice Sector’s services in Timor-Leste to work in a more coordinated and efficient way.

The Minister of Justice, Dionísio Babo, in his speech at the lauching ceremony, highlighted that “Although Timor-Leste is a young nation; it has already noticed some developments in the Justice sector. International partners have been providing an important support and, therefore, we were able to establish an Integrated Information Management System”.

Through this system, added the Minister of Justice, “the important documents from the Justice Sectorwill be well kept, and the coordination between institutions such as the Court of Appeal, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office and the National Police, will be much more effective.”

The President of the Court of Appeal, Cláudio Ximenes, also reinforced the importance of thisIntegrated Information Management System, which “will help Justice Institutions in Timor-Leste to work more professionally. For decision-making to be quicker, we have to make an effort touse this modern system, which will make our work easier”, said Cláudio Ximenes.

The Attorney General, José Ximenes, the Vice Minister of Justice, Ivo Valente, the President of the Court of Appeal, Cláudio Ximenes, the General Public Defender, Sérgio Hornai, the Judge Administrator of the district of Dili, Duarte Tilman, the representative of Timor-Leste’s Ambassador of Australia and Timor-Leste’s Diplomatic Corps were present at the launching ceremony of this new Integrated Information Management System.
