The Minister of Education, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, promised “to improve the quality of education all over the country, through the Ministry’s Annual Plan”. The statement was made at a meeting with Basic and Secondary Education’s Directors, which occurred on September 7th, at the Education Services’ Hall, in Viqueque’s District.
The schools directors presented their concerns to the Minister, highlighting questions as Portuguese Language’s Teaching, voluntary teachers’ statute, the minimum wage, schools’ poor condition, and the lack of desks, tables, books and other learning materials.
Bendito dos Santos Freitas clarified that “with this meeting, we aim to evaluate services’ coordination, on what concerns to difficulties and the obstacles we face in the field, like the condition of the infrastructures, for example, so that the Ministry could solve it the best way possible.
The Minister of Education recognized that the directors’ concerns presented in Viqueque, are national, as many schools, in every district, face the same difficulties.
Emídio Amaral, Director of Education Services in Viqueque, stated that “the compromise assumed by the Ministry of Education in improving facilities and education’s quality, answers the concerns presented by school directors in Viqueque’s district. Directors were informed about the Ministry’s Plan and the way the problems will be solved”.
On this trip to Viqueque, the Minister of Education visited many schools, namely, the Secondary School of S. Cristovão, September 4th’s Public Secondary School, Kalixa’s Basic Education School, Filiál Úlar Rihik Kraras’s Basic Education School, Cabira-oan’s Basic Education School and Beloi’s Basic Education School, to evaluate, on the field, in which condition they are.
