Government promotes local products

On the 13th and 14th of June, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Environment (MoCIE) officially launched a campaign to promote local products, in the district of Bobonaro and Covalima.

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Environment, António da Conceição, said that according to Resolution No. 002/GM/MCIA/V/2013, the Government has set values for local products. For example, corn was set at $ 0.65 per kilogram, mung beans at $ 1.25 per kilogram, red beans at $ 3.50 per kilogram and paddy rice at $ 0.75 per kilogram. These products come from groups of cooperatives and the community.

António da Conceição appealed to cooperative groups, to organize themselves, and for the entire community to make an effort, to ensure good product quality.

“Your productions, will give you access to national and international markets. For this reason, the cooperative groups must meet certain criteria and possess legal permits, “concluded the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Environment.
