The Secretariat of State for the Promotion of Equality (SSPE), in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MoE), held a meeting with the Workgroup for Gender Equality, at national and district level, on June 25th, at the Ministry of Education’s Hall, in Vila Verde, Dili.
The Secretary of State for Promotion of Equality, Idelta Maria Rodrigues, during her speech, underlined that, “the Government approved a resolution foreseeing the launching of a mechanism on ministries and State secretariats guaranteeing the integration of gender perspective in politics and in the development strategy of ministry’s lines. The main points have already been identified at the ministries. The establishment of inter-ministerial groups will be coordinated by the SSPE, in order to guarantee cooperation and gender integration in all Government’s activities. I would like to express my thanks to the Ministry of Education. I came here to talk about the gender integration, the budget, the implementation of the gender based National Action Plan , the implementation of the Law Against Domestic Violence and other programs, which are a priority”.
The Vice Minister of Basic Education, Dulce de Jesus Soares, highlighted the importance of the meeting, explaining that “this is one of the programs which was launched by the IV Constitutional Government, and is being continued by the V Government. This meeting is very important to improve the knowledge of the staff, heads of department and directors, in the area of gender”.
