Timor-Leste and Indonesia agreed to maintain more border entry crossings in three areas: Memo-Builalo and Tunu Bibi (Maliana) Pasabe-Haumenanan (Oe-cusse Ambeno) and Hakesak Turiscai, in Indonesia.

In the presence of Presidents of the Republic of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, from Indonesia, this agreement became a reality with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, Jose Luis Guterres and his Indonesian counterpart, Martin Natalegawa. The Memorandum was signed on June 21st, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

This agreement aims at helping communities in the two countries, especially those living in these three locations, to move around freely, by only using the frontier crossings.

Further to what was previously mentioned, the two ministers also signed, an Agreement in order to facilitate the Timorese and Indonesian holders of Diplomatic and Service passports, to benefit from entrances and exits without the need for visas at the International Entry Point.

During the visit of the President, Taur Matan Ruak to Indonesia another agreement was signed in which the two countries are committed to, within a short period of time, complete the establishment of borders between the two countries.
