On Tuesday 26 February 2013 the Minister of Justice, Dionísio Babo Soares, met with the Norwegian ambassador to Indonesia, Stig Ingemar Traavik, with the objective of strengthening the cooperation ties between the two countries, i.e. Timor-Leste and Norway, in the Justice sector.
During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Justice in Caicoli, Dionísio Soares stressed that “Norway had already cooperated with Timor-Leste in the past, particularly in the justice sector, through UNDP (United Nations Development Programme). The Minister also said that notwithstanding the fact that Norway still does not have an embassy in our country, this is a situation that may be materialized in the future.
Stig Ingemar Traavik took advantage of the occasion to state that Norway always stood ready to keep a sound cooperation with Timor-Leste and, even where there is still no Norwegian embassy here, this meeting with the Minister of Justice will enter history as a milestone so that, in the future, we may collaborate mutually in this very same sector”.
