SoSM, CEFTEC and UNTL develop Programme of On-The-Job Trainings for Media Students

Under a Protocol of Cooperation signed at the time of the IV Constitutional Government between the Secretariat of State for the Council of Ministers (SoSCM) and the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL), the new Secretariat of State for the Media (SoSM) is continuing to implement and actually expanding the said protocol through the establishment of a programme of on-the-job trainings for media students.

The application process for this programme was developed by CEFTEC and UNTL. The period for submitting applications lasted one month for individual trainees and for companies and State institutions interested in offering on-the-job trainings.  The result was the offer of more than 70 vacancies for on-the-job trainings (in areas ranging from Public Relations, Marketing, Audio-Visual and Press, Television and Radio Journalism) for approximately 70 UNTL trainees registered.

The several private companies and public departments which offered vacancies for on-the-job trainings are: Rádio Ramcabia, Timor-Telecom, The Díli Weekly, TVTL, E.P., Grupo Media Nacional, Jornal Independente, Timor-Leste Media Development Center, Suara Timor Lorosae, Timor-Post, Agência Lusa, the Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic, the Parliamentary Support Office of the National Parliament, the Secretariat of State for Parliamentary Issues, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Secretariat of State for the Media (for the Centre of Community Radios and for the National Directorate for Dissemination of Information).

The curricular on-the-job trainings shall have a duration of one month, while the professional on-the-job trainings will last two months. The trainees shall be guided by Media teachers from UNTL in coordination with the companies.
