On Tuesday, 27 of November 2012, in the parish hall of Our Lady of the Assumption, in Same, Manufahi district, the Vice Prime Minister for Social Issues, Fernando La Sama de Araújo, launched the book entitled Dom Boaventura, after the mass celebration, commemorating the 37th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of East Timor, and the Centennial of the Uprising of Dom Boaventura,

The Vice Prime Minister said “the words written in this book, can be compared to a candle illuminating the path into the future, by allowing for a deeper knowledge and relevant information about the history of Timor, namely the Manufahi Uprising”.

This book should circulate freely in schools throughout the territory of Timor-Leste, so that all the future generations may know their own history,” La Sama stressed.

The book’s author, Benjamin Cardoso explained, “having written this book is my contribution, to the nation. During the resistance period, the Timorese living abroad contributed with their efforts towards the independence. We must remain consistent in fulfilling our obligations, by participating in the development of Timor-Leste through our experience and with whatever may be within our reach.”
