On Thursday, November 8th 2012, the Minister of Public Works, Gastão de Sousa, accompanied by Vice-President of the National Parliament, Adriano do Nascimento, inaugurated the Baer bridge, which is 120 meters long and 8 meters wide at the Fohorém sub-district, in the Covalima district.
Gastão de Sousa stressed that “the Government, through the Ministry of Public Works, has demonstrated its commitment to achieve the goal of the 2011-2030 Strategic Development Plan, by taking another step towards rebuilding the infrastructure of our country. Hereinafter, you will be witnessing these important events, and soon, if we take into account that the people are dependent on the good condition of these infrastructures, several other bridge inaugurations will be taking place. I can assure you that the Baer Bridge, in the Covalima district, follows the international standard rules, “said Minister of Public Works.
The Vice-Administrator of the Covalima district, Filipe Vieira Cardoso, on behalf of the entire population, thanked the Government’s concern, for having built the Baer bridge, and stated that it gives the people of Covalima great pride, specially to those from the sub-district of Tilomar and Fohorém.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Public Works, Gastão de Sousa, the Vice President of the National Parliament, Adriano do Nascimento, the Secretary of State for Employment Policy and Vocational Training, Ilídio Ximenes da Costa; members of the Commission E of the National Parliament, directors and heads of department, representatives from the Embassy of Indonesia, local authorities from the Covalima district, entrepreneurs and the community.
