International Seminar on Vocational Training
The Secretariat of State for Vocational Training Policy and Employment (SEPFOPE) will organize the International Seminar on Vocational Training. The event takes place over two days, 20-21 September, the Delta-New salon in Comoro, Díli, with beginning at 8.30 a.m..
The Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, and the Secretary of State for Policy Employment and Vocational Training, Ilídio Ximenes da Costa, will make a speech at the opening of the event.
The topics and speakers on the first day of the seminar are:
- Creating training opportunities for Timor-Leste (achievements and challenges), by Albano Salem, Director of DNAFOP;
- Developing quality standards for Timor-Leste (achievements and challenges), by Isabel Lima;
- Strategic Plan for TVET in Timor-Leste, by Tony McRae;
- Creating employment opportunities in Timor-Leste, by Paulo Alves, Director of DNE;
- Youth participation in market driven training in Asia Pacific region, by ILO;
- Relationship of Labour Market Information System with employment opportunities, by ILO;
- Ensuring maximum participation of Timorese workers in the oil and gas industry, for Gualdinho Carmo da Silva, President of ANP;
- Developing a quality oil and gas training (an Australian case study).
The second day has the following themes and speakers:
- Developing fair working conditions for Timorese workers, by Manuel Noronha, Director of Employment;
- Ensuring safe and effective work places in Timor-Leste (laws, regulations and procedures), by Aniceto Leto Soro, Director of the Labour Inspectorate;
- Seeking for a quality workforce (industry expectations), by John the Baptist, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste;
- Defendind the rights of Timorese workers, by José Conceição, the Confederation of Timor-Leste, and
- Promoting opportunities for decent work in Timor-Leste, by Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Minister of Education.
