Members of Government participate in the Yellow Road workshop

On August 17, the Ministry of Finance organized the Yellow Road workshop, at the Noble Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Prime Minister, other members of the Government, general directors, finance directors and staff with expertise in the areas of planning and finance attended this workshop.

The objective of this workshop was to define the National Priorities for the year 2013.

As a starting point for establishing priorities for 2013, Emilia Pires, Minister of Finance, started the Yellow Road by making a brief analysis of the achieved results, and taking into account the Strategic Development Plan for 2011-2030.

The Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank and the National Development Agency, all made presentations on planning and annual plans, macroeconomic analysis and objectives, inflation, unemployment, fiscal sustainability and taxes, as well as the quality of project implementation and the balance of payments. In the afternoon there was still time to address issues such as management of development aid, the infrastructures fund for the 2013 fiscal year, the calculation of the fiscal envelope for the next fiscal year and national priorities, which were discussed by everyone, with relevant proposals presented in order to reach the objective.

Thus, with the agreement of all, it was suggested that the Council of Ministers should consider the following priority areas: basic infrastructure (including rural roads), water and sanitation, electricity, food safety (with particular focus on increasing productivity of local production), land law, social inclusion, taxes and decentralization, among others.
